How to buy a Tablet in China

I've bought many Tablets and mobile phones in China and I can pass on to my readers some experiences of how to make the best deal. There are many factors that influence the quality and price of the product, It is also important to consider the taxes and the reliability of online store.

To guide purchasers of Tablets of first trip here I leave four tips to help you decide which product to buy among the many different models found in Chinese stores. Come on:

1) Check the hardware specifications

Good hardware specifications alone does not define a good product, Although it is already a great start.

The first thing to pay attention is the amount of RAM and the type of CPU. Currently no one should buy tablets with less than 512MB of RAM and which are not, at least, Dual Core processor with 1 GHz Clock. Run away from this minor specifications, so I don't end up with a Tablet too slow for current applications.

Also look for Tablets with Android 4.1 or 4.2, the called Jelly Bean. Tablets with Android 4.0, known as ICS, are slower and have problems with battery. Tablets with Android 2. x should not be bought in no event, because an out-of-date product may not run the newest Apps.

The touchscreen should not, in any way, be resistive model, It works by pressure and generally sucks. Search only models with capacitive touchscreen, as well as the Ipad and the Samsung tablets most modern. Be very suspicious if the Tablet comes with a stylus to use the touchscreen, because generally that is characteristic of a resistive model.

All the Chinese shops usually publish a score of hardware for each Tablet, that is generated by software AnTuTu benchmarking. Check this score and run away from models that do not reach, at least, 3000 points. If you cannot find the AnTuTu score on the site that sells the product, look for the Google model to assess the ability of the system CPU has, memory speed and 2D/3D processing.

If the camera is important be sure to check if it has auto-focus and flash, or photos will be a drug. 0.3 M pixel cameras are very common, and of course horrible.

To end make sure that the tablet has Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, Tv or anything else that you think is important. In the case of 3 g be sure to make sure supports WCDMA 850 MHz and 2100 MHz (The most common frequency in Brazil is 2100 MHz). Be sure to ask something on the site before making a purchase, If there are any questions. You can also ask here on the site, leaving the link to the template in question.

2) Know the manufacturer and the model to be purchased

If the Chinese site does not specify what the manufacturer of your tablet you should not buy it. Without a manufacturer's name will not be possible to obtain support or updates for the product. Also you will not be able to find the most common defects that this tablet has on the internet without knowing the name of the manufacturer or model. I bought tablets so (Figure below), but it is quite risky and I would only do if the price was too low.

In the case of manufacturers with a name, as for example Wave, Freelander, Ampe, Ainol, Cube, Cubot, Momo, Chuwi, Jiayu, Orange, JXD and other, try to check if there is a website on the internet with support and access to new software versions for your device. If you cannot find at least one official English homepage of the manufacturer in question do not buy the product. You can't trust someone who doesn't even have a website on the internet.

Also look for the model of your device in Google and YouTube after problems and common defects. I've given up several times to buy products for finding reviews and videos complaining about various defects. Worth also know if there are any Android versions customized for the model you want to buy, since they are often better than the original manufacturer.

3) Meet the store and purchase conditions

Verify that the store is known, If you have a forum for complaints and if accepts payment via PayPal. Stores that only accept credit cards should be avoided, because PayPal take a cut in stores that give us scams customers. If the purchase is made on Ebay, Dhgate or Alibaba, that work like Ebay, check if seller has a good reputation. Serious spelling errors, Agreement and punctuation are also indications that the store is not very reliable. Keep an eye!

Also be sure to check out reviews of the product to be purchased in the online shop. It is very common to show up complaining of buyers a defect or another that the tablet can give, and often even a solution to the problem.

Here is the list of Chinese shops in which I already bought and are trusted: Dealextreme, Banggood, Tinydeal, Focalprice and Pandawill. Not to say that other stores don't be honest, I just don't know enough.

4) Check the price and taxes

Most stores do not have freight cost, but you should always check to not be surprised. Look for the product in the most known online stores before you buy, because the price difference can be large. Don't forget that all product is subject to tax taxation When you come here in Brazil, on the value of 60% the total product price plus shipping. Don't be surprised by the amount of the tax, calculate it before (multiplying the value of the product by 0,6) to have full knowledge of how much you can afford.

Good luck and good buy. Here I leave the links to buy tablets in Chinese shops that I trust:
