Better performance on Android with less “Heap Size Memory”

Android devices have a limitation of memory by calling application “Heap Size Memory”, which in some cases may not be bad configured, especially in devices that have less than 512 MB of memory. If your Android is very slow this can be your case.

To modify the “Heap Size Memory” is no need to edit a file called Build. Prop in the Directory/System of the device. It is possible to modify it in a text editor, or using the application below called Build Prop Editor. However, in both cases it is necessary to obtain ROOT permissions.

ATTENTION! MODIFY THE BUILD FILE. PROP USING THE SUGGESTIONS BELOW CAN LEAVE YOUR DEVICE UNUSABLE (ALTHOUGH THIS IS UNLIKELY). MAKE CHANGES AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROBLEMS THAT MAY OCCUR!

If you already have ROOT permissions, install the application Build Prop Editor and look for the line Dalvik.vm.heapsize. Generally, Android devices with 128 MB of memory had this parameter in 16 ~ 24 MB. Currently, on mobile phones and tablets with 1 GB memory, This parameter is set to 256 MB, which is a bit much.

If the player does not run heavy games, video editing programs or images, will be more than enough to adjust this parameter to 32 or 64 MB. These are the values that I usually leave the “Dalvik.vm.heapsize”.

To Exchange, simply tap “dalvik.vm.heapsize” and the screen will show up below.

Recommend change the value for one of the “default values” present in the list of bass. I put 32 MB or 64 MB, Depending on what I normally do squeegee.

After giving “Save”, the program will ask for Root access and suggest a reboot. I don't reboot using the program, I'd rather leave, Open the program again and see if the changes were even made.

After the reboot, check by opening the Build Prop Editor if the changes remained. On some devices had to repeat the process two or three times to get change the value.

Tests all of its programs to see if they're working, and remember not to reduce to less than 32 MB or the device can not boot. Good luck!

my phone is a bike g 3. I downloaded an app to increase ram memory, and increased in 2 GB, and agr I'm with 3! Then I increased the heap size to 512 in the same app! It has a chance to ruin the phone?

    • There is no way to increase the RAM using an APP. You can even improve or modify any way that the operating system manages the RAM, but not increase it. Any modification to the heapsize can end up causing a problem on your phone called Brick, where the operating system no longer works. In this case you have to reinstall the firmware…

EAI, you seem to understand the issue, then I want to hear your opinion… My phone has 3GB RAM, and Heap Size're in 36m (by default), I like to run some games that use about 700 a 1GB de RAM, but even with this relatively small amount of Heap, I feel no lag or crashes game for lack of RAM or even Android is obliged to release a lot of RAM (monitor use to check these things). You think it's a good change the Heap Size?

  2. OLA, Could you help me, Unintentionally left in 8 m Tablet won't turn over… Could you help me? DL 3D MAXVIEW is there any way to recover without having to install the rom?

    • Probably not. However, Some tablets have the option to go back to factory settings by pressing some buttons (type power and increase the volume) When you turn on the device. Search for which the method in your model specific forums, or download new firmwware.
